If a page, feature, document, or communication is difficult to use, email info@durhamconnect.ca. Tell us what you were trying to do and the format or support that would work best for you.
Our commitment
Durhamconnect.ca is owned and operated by Monster Media Lab Inc. Durham Connect is committed to identifying, preventing, and removing barriers for people with disabilities. We consider accessibility when we design services, publish content, support customers, and improve the platform.
Our digital accessibility goal is to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA, while supporting the requirements that apply under the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act, 2005 (AODA) and its standards. Accessibility is ongoing work, and stating this goal does not mean every page or third-party integration is free of barriers today.
How the site is designed to support you
Navigation, links, forms, dialogs, and core actions are designed to work without a mouse.
Semantic headings, labels, landmarks, status messages, and text alternatives support screen readers.
Colour contrast, visible focus, clear language, and layouts that adapt to zoom and smaller screens are part of our design approach.
We work to respect reduced-motion settings and avoid relying on colour alone to communicate meaning.
You can generally use browser zoom and built-in text sizing without losing core content or functionality. Current versions of major browsers and assistive technologies will provide the best experience.
Known limitations and third-party content
Some older pages, business-supplied images or documents, maps, payment screens, embedded media, external booking links, and other third-party services may not yet provide the same level of accessibility as the Durham Connect interface.
We do not control every third-party experience, but we consider accessibility when selecting and configuring services, pass along relevant feedback where appropriate, and will help identify another way to access Durham Connect information or complete a task.
Accessible formats and communication supports
Information about Durham Connect services can be provided in an accessible format or with communication support on request. Examples may include plain-language text, a structured electronic document, larger print, or assistance by email.
We will consult with you about a suitable format and provide it as soon as reasonably possible. There is no additional charge for an accessible format. If a specific format cannot be produced, we will explain why and work with you on a useful alternative.
Accessibility feedback and support
We welcome feedback from people with disabilities, support people, caregivers, businesses, and community partners. You can report a barrier, request support, or suggest an improvement by:
- emailing info@durhamconnect.ca with “Accessibility” in the subject line; or
- using our contact form and selecting “Accessibility”.
Please include the page or feature involved, what happened, the browser or assistive technology you were using if relevant, and how we can contact you. Do not include passwords or sensitive account information.
We will acknowledge accessibility feedback within two business days. We review each request, consult with the person when useful, protect personal information, and explain the action taken or planned. You may provide feedback anonymously, although we will be unable to respond directly.
Continuous improvement
Our accessibility work includes reviewing new features, improving templates and content practices, testing key journeys with automated and manual methods, and prioritizing barriers based on their impact. We also incorporate accessibility feedback into future releases.
This statement will be reviewed as Durham Connect changes and when we learn about material new barriers or improvements.
Tell us what would make Durham Connect easier to use.
